In choosing a source for our essential oils we engaged in considerable research. There are many essential oil companies, and some briefly tempted us with the very low prices of their products, but in the end we chose two sources for their quality quality. Whereas inexpensive essential oils may turn rancid over time, high-quality oils, when stored in a cool, dark place, should last for years, thus offering long-term economy.

Most of the oils come in 1/2 oz. sizes. Others come in 1/5 oz. The more expensive oils are available by special order only. They are grouped according to these categories.

All of the oils are 100% undiluted botanical oils from wild or organic habitats, and made by the purest possible methods. In our experience it isn't necessary to use more than a few drops of each oil, and with the more expensive oils, such as jasmine and rose, one drop is sufficient, and may be even further diluted with a carrier oil such as canola or jojoba.

On Choosing Essential Oils

You can choose essential oils either from the list below, from our section on chakras, or from the Emotional First Aid Kit. If you refer to either of these two documents you may want to return here to read more detailed descriptions of the essential oils which interest you.

In choosing an oil based on attributions described here, you might, for instance, have want to deal with the recent loss of someone dear to you. In scanning the list you'll see that Bergamot and Cypress relate to this issue.

You may also want to intuitively choose a fragrance which has pleasant memories for you, such as Cinnamon, Peppermint, or Lavender. As in every choice, we are always in favor of those based on intuition.

Please read this list carefully.

Skin irritants which should neither be applied directly to the skin or used in the bath: bergamot, clove, lemon, lemongrass, lemon verbena, lime, melissa, orange, oregano, peppermint. If you're susceptible to skin allergies place no essential oils directly on the skin.
Prolonged inhalation may cause headaches: camphor, ylang-ylang
Do not use if pregnant: basil, birch, cedarwood, clary sage, cypress, fennel, jasmine, juniperberry, marjoram, myrrh, peppermint, rosemary, thyme. If this list makes you uneasy about using essential oils at all during pregnancy, then please don't.
The following may trigger epileptic seizure: fennel
Do not use if you have high blood pressure: cypress, rosemary
Do not breathe in if you've been drinking alcohol: clary sage
