Lizard: Intuition, Dreaming

Lizards are masters of subtle perception. They have the ability to detect the slightest movement about them and also have very keen hearing. In addition they are able to sense the smallest vibrations in the earth. In keeping with their subtle nature, they can also lie very quietly, nearly motionless.

These fine-tuned abilities allow Lizard to to immediately detect the presence of either predator or prey. Their stillness fools their prey into thinking they are asleep, but when desirable, Lizard can move with great speed.

Lizard has another, related talent, a detachable tail. Many a lizard's life has been saved when a predator who grabbed this appendage found itself with nothing else. Meanwhile Lizard darts off and starts to grow a new tail.

For Lizard, its gifts are a matter of survival. The intuition and psychic sensitivity symbolized by Lizard medicine has long been disregarded and/or feared by the human animal. We favor logic and reason, believing that the exercise of the left side of the brain will solve all our problems. In a similar way, we trust the knowledge we gain during the day, paying no attention to the wisdom of night, particularly what we can learn in our dreams.
